Choosing Party Dresses for Your Shape
Parties are a great place to have fun and step out of your fashion
comfort zone. The next time that you go shopping for a party dress
try something new. Go for a bold color, a sexy cut, or a new style.
To make sure that your party fashion isn’t a bust, make sure that
your party dress meets the fashion needs of your body shape.
Choosing Party Dresses for Your Shape Step #1 – Know What Type of
Body You Have
There are several body types that you can have. If you are under
5’3” tall, have a small frame, and a medium sized bust then you are
classified as a petite woman. If you are over 5’8” tall then you are
considered a tall woman. If you have a heavy build that is loaded
with beautiful curves then you are classified as a full figured
women. If you are muscular, lean, and have few curves then you are
classified as athletic. If you are slim, have few curves, have small
breasts, and a narrow frame then you are classified as a thin woman.
While these are the basic categories that shopping guides are
usually organized into, some women have a combination of body types.
For example you may be petite based on height but have a full
figure. Or you may be tall and athletic. The key for shopping for
your body type is to know what style recommendations you should use
to balance your body.
Choosing Party Dresses for Your Shape Step #2 – Know What Colors
Work for Your Shape
Balancing your body is the key for selecting any outfit. When it
comes to partywear you want to keep the color palette appropriate
for the event that you will be going to as well as appropriate for
your shape. If you are going to a formal party and you have heavy
hips, for example, then you will want to select a dress that has a
dark colored skirt with a slightly lighter, but still conservative,
colored top. On the other hand if the same woman is going to a wild
summer party then she will want to select a dress with a darker
bottom and a wild print top or a bright colored top.
Choosing Party Dresses for Your Shape Step #3 – Try a Variety of
Dresses On Before Making a Selection
It is never a good idea to buy a party dress without trying it on
first. Dress manufacturers don’t follow the same sizing charts so
their cuts and sizes are going to vary. Also, just because a dress
looks good on the hanger doesn’t mean that it will hang right on
your body. To get the best fitting dress possible you will need to
try on a variety of dresses. If you don’t know if the dress fits you
properly ask the sales clerk, or bring a friend with you.
