How to Find Your Dress Size
Because every dress designer uses a slightly different set of
measurements when they construct their dresses you need to know you
body before you can select the right dress size. When measuring your
body make sure that you are in your underwear only. This will help
produce measurements that will help you get a better fit.
How to Find Your Dress Size Step #1 – Gather a Few Things
Before you can find your dress size you first need to gather
together a few items. The first thing that you will need is a friend
to help you out. Next you will need a cloth tape measure. You will
also need a piece of paper and a writing tool. Finally you will need
a little privacy.
How to Find Your Dress Size Step #2 – Measure Your Circumferences
The first set of measurements will be round measurements. You will
need your bust measurement, your waist measurement, and your hip
measurement. You will need your friend’s help to do this to get the
most accurate measurements. When measuring your circumferences make
sure that the tape measure is in the right location, make sure that
it is even, and make sure that it is flat against your body. Write
down your measurements on the paper.
How to Find Your Dress Size Step #3 – Measure Your Lengths
The next step is to measure the lengths of several parts of your
body. First you will need to measure the length of your sleeve. This
is from your shoulder to your wrist. Next you will want to measure
the length of the dress that you want. For a knee length dress you
will measure from your shoulder to your knee and for a long dress
from your shoulder to your ankle. Write these measurements down on
your paper. You will use these measurements more when you order from
an online store or from a mail order catalogue. The length
measurements will help you determine if the dress will be too long,
too short, or just right.
How to Find Your Dress Size Step #4 - Compare Your Measurements to
the Sizing Chart
Now that you have the measurements for your body you can easily find
your dress size by using the sizing chart provided by the
manufacturer or online store that you are shopping at. In most cases
you will only need your bust, waist, and hip measurement to find
your dress size. However, you may need your length measurements to
determine if a particular dress will be long enough, or short
enough, for you. The length measurements can also be used to
determine if you need to order a petite size, a regular size, or a
tall size. If you fall between sizes go up to the next size. This
will ensure that the dress will fit your body properly. Too loose is
better then too tight because you can always alter a dress that is
too big, but you usually can’t alter a dress that is too small.
