The Maid of Honor, or the Matron of Honor, needs to have a special
dress. This dress needs to be unique from the other bridesmaids’
dresses, however, it still needs to be coordinated with their
dresses. The best way to find a dress that will make your Maid of
Honor look radiant is to take her shopping with you. Look for a
dress style that fits within the theme of your wedding, and that
also compliments her body type. After selecting the right style you
can then pick a color that will coordinate her dress with the rest
of your wedding party.
What to Wear to a Wedding When You Are the Mother of the Bride or
Groom
Your role as the mother of the bride or groom is to look caring,
supporting, happy, and radiant. To meet all of these goals you need
an outfit that makes you look stunning, yet moderately conservative.
As the matriarch of the family you have the option of wearing a nice
pant suit or a dress. Select an outfit that you will be comfortable
in and that also compliments your body type. You have the option of
selecting a color palette that is not in step with the wedding,
however, to make yourself look like you fit in with the rest of the
wedding party select an outfit color that compliments the main
colors of the wedding. If this isn’t possible then you can always
wear a corsage that will link you to the wedding’s color palette.
What to Wear to a Wedding When You Are a Guest
As a guest you can wear just about anything that you want. However,
your outfit should be appropriate for the type of wedding that you
will be attending, it should compliment your body type, and it
should incorporate a color palette that is flattering to your skin
tone and hair color. You may want to bring a second outfit for the
reception when things get heated up on the dance floor.
Black is okay only for evening receptions and black tie weddings
when the dress code calls for it. White is okay if only a part of
your dress is white without making white the focal point of your
dress.
