Tips for Frizz Control
Frizz is caused when your hair absorbed extra moisture from the air
and the hair strand swells. The swollen strands force each hair away
from the scalp making it stick up. The bloated strands also fight
for space by pushing away from other strands of hair. This is what
gives you the wild frizzy look. If you have frizzy hair then there
are things that you can do to tame the wildness of this hair
condition.
Tips for Frizz Control #1 – Hydrate Yourself
The first thing that you can do prevent frizz is to make sure that
your hair is well hydrated. By hydrating your hair you will reduce
each strand’s ability to take in more moisture from the air. This
will reduce your frizz. To hydrate your hair simply drink a healthy
amount of water and use a moisturizing shampoo and conditioner.
Tips for Frizz Control #2 – Use a Curl Enhancer
If you have curly hair then your frizz can be controlled by using
products that will help define your curls and keep the strands of
hair together. There are several curl enhancers that you can use.
Curl enhancers come in shampoos, conditioners, sprays, styling
products, and finishing products.
Tips for Frizz Control #3 – Trim Your Hair Regularly
Trimming your hair every other week can help to reduce split ends
and keep your hair healthy. Healthy hair is shiny and more resilient
to conditions that encourage frizz. You don’t have to trim a lot
from your hair. A quarter inch is usually adequate.
Tips for Frizz Control #4 – Use a Hair Care Product That Has a Small
Amount of Oil in It
As you probably know oil and water don’t mix. Therefore it makes
sense that by adding a thin layer of oil to your hair strands that
you will be reducing the strand’s ability to absorb water from the
air. Pomade is a good product to use because it is easy to find, it
works great, and it is easy to use. Just remember that you only need
to use a small amount to be effective. If you use too much your hair
will look greasy, and you don’t what that to happen.
Tips for Frizz Control #5 – Treat Chemical Damage
In addition to humidity issues, chemical damage can also cause your
hair to frizz. Chemical damage is caused by chemical used for perms,
hair lightening, and hair straighteners. If your frizz is caused by
chemical damage then you need to use a deep conditioning treatment
to help improve your hair’s health. If the damage is extremely bad
then you may need to go to a salon to get a professional strength
hair conditioning treatment.
Tips for Frizz Control #6 – Cold Water is the Cure
If you have frizzy hair then you can use cold water when rinsing
your hair to “freeze” your cuticles into a down position. For the
best results use the coldest temperature of water that you can bear.
To reduce the discomfort this can cause try washing your hair in the
sink so that you don’t have to stand in the cold water when you are
rinsing your hair.
