Which Hair Products to Use – And How to Use Them
Today there are hundreds of hair products on the market. Some brands
used organic ingredients while others use synthetic. However, while
the ingredient lists may vary greatly between brands and products,
there are still four basic hair product types that most brands
produce.
Which Hair Products to Use and How to Use Them
Shampoo
The first hair product that almost every hair care line has is
shampoo. Simply stated shampoo is a hair cleanser. You should select
a shampoo based on your hair type and texture. To use shampoo
properly you should wet your hair, apply a small dollop of shampoo
into the palm of your hand, apply it to your hair, lather, and
rinse. Some shampoos recommend that you repeat this process, but
this is usually not required unless your hair has an excessive
amount of oil or fragrance that you are trying to remove. You really
don’t want to shampoo more than once a day as this can dry out your
hair.
Conditioner
Conditioners are the next most common item that is carried in a hair
care line. Conditioners come in just as many variations as shampoos
do. Again you will want to select a conditioner based on your hair’s
type and texture. You may also want to buy a spray in or leave in
conditioner with an SPF. These hair products can help you protect
your hair from sun and wind damage during warming months. You will
want to use a conditioner every day. To use a regular conditioner
you will want to apply a small amount to your palm, work in into
your hair, and rinse it out thoroughly. If you are using a leave in
conditioner then you will want to apply the product to your dry
hair, work it from root to the tip of your hair and leave it in.
Spray on conditioners can simply be spritzed on your hair and worked
through with your fingers.
Curl enhancer
Curl enhancers are a new variety of hair care products that have
recently come on the market. There are several different types of
curl enhancers. Some come in the form of shampoos and conditioners,
while others are serums. To apply a curl enhancing serum you will
want to read the instructions on the bottle. However, you will
generally need to apply a small amount of the serum to your wet
hair. Work the serum through your hair with your fingers defining
curls by twisting them with your fingers.
Frizz control products
Frizz control products are another new addition to several hair care
product lines. Like curl enhancers, frizz control products are
packaged as shampoos, conditioners, and serums. Frizz controllers
also come packaged as finishing products like gels, mousse, and hair
spray. To use the gels and mousse frizz controllers you will want to
use just a dime size squirt of the product. Lather it in your hand
and then work it through your hair using your fingers, defining
curls and coating each strand of hair with the product. To use the
hair spray simply style your hair and spray it on.
