Top Hairstyle Trends for 2007
Every year has its own trends for hairstyles. For example, the short
bob was a popular and rebellious style for women during the Roaring
Twenties. The forties and fifties were all about impeccably curled
and coiffed glamour, while styles of the sixties and seventies
ranged from the giant bouffant to long, untamed tresses. The
eighties, as you may remember, were all about big hair and wild
styles. In the nineties, hairstyles were low-key, sleek and chic
with "The Rachel" being the most popular cut. In 2007, there is no
one defining trend, but rather a combination of trends from days
gone by.
For short hair, the bob and the pixie are still two popular
styles. A modern twist on the bob is a chin-length, razor cut
straight style which curves towards the face a bit. The pixie is a
style made famous by Gwyneth Paltrow and Halle Berry in the
nineties, and is very flattering for women with petite bone
structure. Spikier, edgier short styles are cropping up, too. Women
are going for short styles swept up with molding wax. Accentuate a
short, spiky look with chunky highlights which contrast with your
natural haircolor.
Medium length hair also works well with a bob. But not
everyone can go for the one-length style. Women with a bit of wave
to their hair do well with long layers cut into their hair. If you
prefer bangs, a long sideswept bang is totally modern and looks
fantastic with a few strategically placed highlights. Medium length
hair looks great down, yet can also look great in a chic high
ponytail or messy, casual updo.
If you've got long hair, you can either go for sleek,
straight strands or voluminous waves. Different face shapes look
best with different parts and bang styles. For example, some women
look best with sideswept bangs, while others look totally fabulous
with thick, blunt bangs. Speaking of bangs, more and more women are
opting for thick, brow-skimming bangs which provide forehead
coverage and camouflage all those little expression lines.
No matter what style you choose for your hair, you need hair that's
healthy and well-cared for in order to look your best. Choose hair
care products made for your particular hair type, and deep condition
anywhere from once a week to once a month depending on how damaged
your hair is. Keep heat styling to a minimum, and when you do style
with heat be sure to apply a heat protectant to the hair first. To
impart dazzling shine, mist hair with a shine spray after styling.
Even if you have or want long hair, regular trims are crucial to
keep split ends at bay.
