Selecting lipsticks and applying them properly takes some finesse.
Learning the finer points of selecting and using lipstick today
isn’t easy because there are hundreds of lipstick brands, styles,
and colors to choose from. If you need some help with your lipstick
then you may want to use some, or all, of the following tips.
Lipstick Tips and Tricks #1 – Sampling Safely
When you are shopping for a lipstick you never want to use the
counter sample lipstick to try a lip color on your lips. You don’t
know how many other people have used the lipstick, and you don’t
know what you could catch from it. To play it safe you will want to
apply the lipstick the tip of your finger. The skin on this part of
your hand will provide you with a better idea of how the color will
look on your lips then the back of your hand will.
Lipstick Tips and Tricks #2 – Fixing a Lipstick That is Too Bright
If you buy a lipstick that turns out to be too bright then you can
easily fix this problem in two different ways. Your first option is
to blend the too bright shade with a lip color that has a darker
tone. Your second option is to use a darker shade of lip liner to
fill in your lips and then apply the bright lipstick on top of it.
This combination of lip color products will create a medium shade
lip color.
Lipstick Tips and Tricks #3 – Use the Right Color Lip Liner
When you are selecting a lip liner to use make sure that it is
appropriate for the color and shade of lipstick you will be using.
You never want to use a dark lip liner with a light colored
lipstick, nor do you want to use a light lip liner with a dark
lipstick. Both of these makeup mistakes will create unattractive and
tacky looking results. To get the best results try to match your lip
liner and lipstick colors as closely as possible.
Lipstick Tips and Tricks #4 – Improve the Longevity of Your Lipstick
If you want to cut down on how many times you have to re-apply your
lipstick and you don’t have a long lasting lipstick then you can use
this trick. First define and fill in your lips with a lip liner.
Then apply your lipstick. This combination of lip liner and lip
color will help you to create an extra-long lasting lip color.
Lipstick Tips and Tricks #5 – Use Every Last Drop
One of the problems that many women have with their lipstick is that
they discover that their favorite color has run out on the night of
a special event. If this happens to you try digging out the remains
of the lipstick from the bottom of the tube using a pocket knife.
Then use a lip brush to apply the remains of the lips color to your
lips. That’s all you have to do to save the evening.
