Tips for Longer Lasting Lipstick
The promise of a longer lasting lipstick is tempting, but it is
often expensive. If you don’t have the money to buy a brand of long
lasting lipstick then there are things that you can do to extend the
life of your regular lipsticks. In fact, making your lipstick last
longer is pretty easy to do if you know a few simple tricks.
Tips for Longer Lasting Lipstick #1 – Store in a Cool Place
To protect your lipstick from drying out or melting you need to
store it in a cool place. The best way to protect your lipstick is
to place a couple of folded paper towels at the bottom of a plastic
container that has a lid. Sprinkle a little baking soda between the
layers of paper towels. However, make sure that the top paper towel
doesn’t have baking soda on it. The paper towels will help to absorb
any extra moisture in the container and the baking soda will absorb
odors from your refrigerator preventing them from getting absorbed
by your lipsticks. Next place your closed lipsticks in the container
and seal the lid. Place the container in one of the drawers by
itself. If you have a climate controlled refrigerator then use the
bin that is designed for dryer storage.
Tips for Longer Lasting Lipstick #2 – Line It For Longevity
To make your regular lipstick last longer all you need is a lip
liner. Try to find a lip liner that has the same color as your
regular lipstick. Then line your lips and fill them in with the
liner. Finally apply your regular lipstick over your lip liner
color. This will help your lipstick last much longer than if you
only used lipstick. To add color versatility to your lipstick
wardrobe you can buy lip liners that have the same color in a
lighter shade and a darker shade. Then following the same process as
outlined above you can either create a long lasting lighter shade
lipstick, or a long lasting darker shape lipstick.
Tips for Longer Lasting Lipstick #3 – Try Something New
If you have problems getting your lipstick to last all day long then
you may want to forego lipstick all together and instead use eye
shadow and lip gloss. To start with you will want to select an eye
shadow that works with your coloring and that also is appropriate as
a lip color. Apply the shadow to your lips dry using a flat makeup
brush. Next use a clear or translucent lip gloss to seal in the
color. This will create a lip color that lasts longer than an
ordinary lipstick and longer than gloss alone.
Tips for Longer Lasting Lipstick #4 – Try Permanent Lip Color
If you always use the same lipstick color, and if you are not afraid
of needles, then you may want to consider a permanent lipstick.
Permanent lipstick is applied with a tattoo needle. This is a
permanent process so make sure that you select a color that you can
live with. You don’t want to select a color that is too bold.
Instead, choose a slightly darker, or richer, toner of your natural
color. This way you will be able to cover up your permanent lip
color with another lipstick easily if you ever want to experiment
with another color.
