Makeup Colors for Every Skin Color/Tone
The color palette that you select for your makeup is going to
determine the final outcome of your look. If you select the right
colors for your skin color and tone then your final look will appear
natural, radiant, and beautiful. On the other hand, if your makeup’s
color palette doesn’t work with your skin color and tone then your
final look will appear unattractive, haggard, and clownish.

Determine Your Skin Tone.
Selecting the Right Makeup Colors for Dark Skin Tones
If you have a dark complexion then you will need to select a makeup
color palette that includes deeper, richer colors. If your skin tone
has yellow tones to it then you will want to avoid foundations that
have yellow and orange undertones. To avoid an ashy look avoid
foundations that are too light for your skin tone and that also have
too many blue and red undertones.
When you shop for blushes you will want to look for deep roses and
metallic tones like rich golds. Eye shadow colors should look rich.
Experiment with metallic colors, as well as monochromatic colors
like black, gray, and white. When you shop for eye shadows avoid
light or extra soft colors. When you select your eye liners and
mascara you can go bold. Look for midnight black or dark brown. When
you shop for lip color use your natural lip shade as your guide, and
select a shade that is slightly lighter than your natural lip color.
Selecting the Makeup Colors for Fair Skin Tones
When you shop for makeup when you have fair skin you will want to
avoid colors that are too dark, as they will make your skin look
even paler then it already is. It can even give you an undead look.
Your best colors are going to be soft, natural, earth tones. Pastels
will also work well with your skin tone. When you are selecting an
eye shadow color you will need to select a color that compliments
your eye color. For example if you have blue eyes then you will want
to look for pinks, light purples, and blues. If you have brown eyes
then you will want to use richer tones like emerald greens,
burgundies, and jewel tones.
Selecting the Makeup Colors for Medium Skin Tones
Women who have a skin color that is somewhere between fair and dark
have the most color options available to them. Your skin tone will
allow you to select rich looking colors like jewel tones, deep
greens, rich browns, and even corals. Your lip color choices will
also be varied. You are going to look good in just about anything.
To find the right color for you try experimenting with different
shades of reds.
Selecting the Makeup Colors for Olive Skin Tones
If you have an olive skin tone then you will want to select colors
from a neutral palette as well as from a rich color palette. Some of
your best color options will include: metallic colors, plums,
terracotta, chestnut, and purples. The rule of thumb for your skin
tone is to select darker tones with rich hues.
