Fast Fixes for Makeup Disasters
Makeup disasters happen when we least expect them, and usually when
we least want them to happen. If you are planning a special event,
like a wedding, then you need to be prepared to fix makeup disasters
quickly before they ruin your whole day. The following tips can help
you out a lot.
Fast Fixes for Common Makeup Disasters – Prevention is Key
The key to preventing makeup disasters is to know when your makeup
should be replaced with a fresh product. Like anything else makeup
has a shelf life. Generally speaking you should not keep mascara
longer then 3 months, foundation will keep for about a year,
concealers will last for 18 months, nail polishes will last for 12
months, liquid eyeliner will last for 6 months, eye shadow will last
18 months, and blushes and bronzers will last about a year. These
timelines should only be used as a guideline. If your makeup turns a
different color or if it separates then it is time to throw it out
and buy a new product.
Makeup Disaster – Bleeding Lipstick
Solution: One of the most common makeup disasters is when red
lipstick bleeds. To correct this problem you will want to remove the
lipstick from your lips using a Q-tip. Then you will want to remove
the lipstick that is on your skin using a baby wipe. Next you will
want to prep your lips to prevent bleeding and fading. Start by
applying a line of concealer below your lip line. This will provide
you with an extra barrier between your lip color and your
foundation. Next use a lip liner to outline your lips. Then use the
liner to fill in your lip color. Then apply your red lipstick.
Finally sweep powder over the area to set the concealer and prevent
the lipstick from migrating.
Makeup Disaster – You Have a Makeup Line
Solution: Makeup lines are created when you don’t blend your
foundation into your neck. If you get to work and realize that you
have a noticeable makeup line then you have a couple of options.
First of all, if you have a makeup bag with you, you can go to the
restroom and fix the problem by apply a little more foundation to
your jaw line and blending it properly into your neckline. If you
don’t have a makeup bag with you then you will want to go to the
restroom and try to blend your foundation with your hands. If this
doesn’t work try using a damp towel to moisten your foundation and
then work with it to blend it properly.
Makeup Disaster – Bubble in Your Nail Polish
Solution: If you get a bubble in your nail polish then you
can correct this problem using your nail polish and a Q-tip. First
file down the raised edges on the bubble. Then dip your Q-tip into
your nail polish and drop a little bit into the bubble’s hole. Make
sure that you fill in the hole completely. Allow the polish to dry.
Then file the color down slightly to make the color on your nail
smooth. Apply another coat of nail polish. Then apply a clear top
coat to protect your nails from further chipping and damage.
