Makeup Do’s and Don’ts

When you are applying your makeup you probably follow a set routine that you complete without thinking. If you are using the right makeup and application techniques for your face then you will be fine keeping your makeup routine in place. However, if you are using the wrong makeup techniques, colors, and products for your face then you need to stop what you are doing right now and learn the right makeup practices.

Makeup Do’s

There are a lot makeup do’s that you should learn about. The first one is that you need to use quality makeup brushes to create the best results. While you may be able to get away with using cheaper brush sets when you are younger, as you mature you should invest in a quality set because they will be able to produce a more professional appearance then the cheap brushes will be able to do.

The second item that is on the makeup do’s list is to use the right colors for your skin tone, eye color, and hair color. To find the right color palette to work with you need to determine if you have warm or cool characteristics. After you determine which temperature zone to work in, your color selections will be much easier.

The third item on the makeup do’s list is to take care of your skin. Moisturize your skin every day, drink lots of water, and clean your skin every day. When you keep your skin healthy your makeup is going to look better.

The fourth item on the makeup do’s list is to select a focal point for your makeup. The focal feature of your face will be what you will want to make bold using your makeup. The other features on your face will need to be neutralized to keep your face balanced.

Makeup Don’ts

One of the biggest makeup don’ts is not using dark lip liner with a light shade of lipstick. This creates a very tacky look.

The second item on the makeup don’ts list is not to assume that you will be able to use the same shade of foundation for your entire life. As you age your skin tonality changes, therefore, to keep your makeup looking flawless you need to change foundations as your skin tone changes.

The third item on the makeup don’ts list is to not use sparkly eye shadows or eye shadow creams when you are over 35. These types of eye shadows will emphasize fine lines and wrinkles around your eyes because they settle into these creases.

The fourth item on the makeup don’ts list is don’t use a wet or glossy lipstick when you are over 40. These lipsticks are not flattering to the mature mouth. Instead, you can create a sexy look by using a creamy lipstick.

The fifth item on the makeup don’t list is don’t assume that a lipstick will look good on you just because it looks attractive in the tube. Lipstick color looks different on every one. This is because the color in the lipstick is going to react to your body’s chemistry and coloring to create a unique shade. To determine what the color will look like on you color the tip of your finger with the sample lipstick. This will give you a better idea of what the color will look like on your lips then marking the color on the back of your hand will.
