Step-by-step Nighttime Makeup Application

When you have a hectic schedule it is sometimes difficult to fit in time for a social life. However, you can cut down on the time that it takes you to get ready for a night on the town by following a few easy steps. These steps will help you transition your day makeup to night makeup in no time at all.

Step #1 – Prepare for the Transition from Day to Night

If you will need to change your makeup at work then you will want to pack a small makeup kit to take with you. In this kit you will need, makeup remover wipes, mascara, and eye shadow trio or quad, powder, concealer, and lip gloss.

Step #2 – Wipe Off the Stress of the Day

The first step is to clean up the smudges on your face where your liner, eye color, and lip color have run. Use your makeup remover wipes to clean up your face and refresh your skin. If your eyes are feeling tired and dry, you might want to apply a dab of moisturizer to the lids of your eyes.

Step #3 – Conceal It

If you have dark circles under your eyes then you will want to use a yellow based concealer stick to camouflage the discoloration. Blend the concealer to make it less noticeable. Don’t over apply your concealer.

Step #4 – Foundation

Next you will want to take a close look at your face. If you have shiny spots then you will want to use your foundation compact to blot away the shine. If it is a hot day or night, then you may want to use a powder foundation instead of an oil based foundation.

Step #5 – Eyes

To create a dramatic eye you will need a black eye liner. First of all create a dark line to the upper lash line. Use your finger or a Q-tip to smudge the liner and create a smoky look. Next line your bottom eye lid with a thin line. Use your powder to set these lines. Next apply your eye shadow. Because it is night and you are trying for a dramatic look then you will want to use darker shades of shadow then you would normally use during the day. Finally apply your mascara.

Step #6 – Cheeks

Take out your eye shadow trio or quad. If this quad has a color that will work for your cheeks then use it. Apply a good sweep of color to the area that is located slightly below your cheekbone ridges.

Step #7 – Lips

The final step is to color your lips. Since you created a dramatic eye for your evening look then you don’t want to over do your lips. Instead use a neutral tinted lip gloss to add class and style to your lips and to finish your look.
