How to Deal with Puffy Eyes
Puffy eyes can make you look tired, sick, and they can also make you
look like you have put on weight. No woman wants to look like any of
these things. If you occasionally get puffy eyes then these steps
will help you to reduce the puffiness quickly.
Cool Things Down
The fastest way to reduce the puffiness around your eyes is to use a
cool compress. If you have a gel face mask then you will need to put
it into the freezer for 15 to 20 minutes to cool it off. Then lie
down and drape the cold mask over your eyes. Apply gentle pressure
so that the coolness is able to reach all of the areas around your
eyes. Relax for about 15 minutes. This should help you minimize the
puffiness.
What to do During Allergy Season
If you have allergies then puffy eyes may develop every time that
you come into contact with pollen, dust, or other allergens. If you
have serious allergies then you should take preventative steps to
reduce the chances that you will have a reaction during the day. To
do this you can take a prescription allergy medication. If you only
have occasional reactions to allergens then you may just want to
take an over-the-counter anti-histamine when you feel your eyes
starting to get itchy.
On the Job
If your eyes get puffy while you are at work then you can turn to
your lunch for help. Take the cucumber slices from your salad and
place them on your eyes. Lean back in your chair and let them do all
the work for you while you relax for 15 minutes.
If you need a quicker fix for on the job eye puffiness then try
applying a thin layer of moisturizer to your eyes. Keep a jar of
moisturizer in your lunch bag in the refrigerator at work. Then when
your eyes get puffy at work you can apply the cooled moisturizer to
your eyes over your makeup. (Just be careful not to smear your liner
and mascara.) This will help to cool your eyes and reduce the
puffiness.
Get Enough Sleep
One of the most common causes of puffy eyes is not getting enough
sleep. If you can’t get 6 to 8 hours of sleep at night then you may
want to consider taking a cat nap during your lunch break. This will
help to reduce the chances that your eyes will get puffy because of
a lack of sleep. It will also help you to perform better at work
during the last four hours of the work day.
Tea for Two…Eyes
Another great remedy for puffy eyes is to use dampened tea bags. To
get the best results use a caffeinated tea. Moisten two tea bags, or
use the ones that you made tea with, then place them in the
refrigerator. After the bags have cooled apply them to your eyes.
This will help to cool your eyes and reduce the puffiness, and the
caffeine will help to lift the skin around your eyes making them
look more wide awake and alert.
