Eye Makeup - Step by Step
One of the most sultry and popular looks for a night on the town is
the smoky eye. Smoky eyes work for women of all ages. It is also a
timeless look that never goes out of style. If you have always
wanted to learn how to create a smoky eye with makeup then all you
need to do is follow the steps listed below.
Smoky Eye Makeup – Step #1 Select Your Palette
The first step in creating a smoky eye is to select the colors that
you want to use. A lot of women will create a smoky look using
black, gray, and white eye shadows, however, you can create a smoky
eye with just about any colors as long as you have a dark tone,
medium tone, and lighter tone shadow palette to work with. When
selecting your colors make sure that they compliment your eye color,
skin tone, and, if you wear glasses, make sure that the colors also
compliment your eye glass frames.
Smoky Eye Makeup – Step #2 Prep Your Eyes
The second step is to prepare your eyes for a night out. One problem
that a lot of women have when they get a little older is that the
skin around their eyes starts looking droopy and tired by the
evening. To perk your eyes up and prepare them for a new application
of makeup you will want to cleanse your day make up off of your
face, apply a moisturizer and lifting cream, and then apply a cool
compress or cucumbers to your eyes for about 15 minutes. These steps
will help you to reduce puffiness, lift the skin around your eyes,
and provide you with a taught, smooth canvas to work on.
Smoky Eye Makeup – Step #3 Line Your Eyes
The first step is to line your eyes. You can line your eyes with
either an eye liner or with eye shadow. If you are using eye shadow
to line your eyes you will want to push it into your lash line to
help thicken the look of your lashes as well as line your eye. If
you are using an eyeliner then you will want to smudge it a bit to
reduce the harshness of the line. You will also want to add a
slightly thicker line to the outside corner of your upper lash line.
Smoky Eye Makeup – Step #4 Apply the Medium Tone Eye Shadow
Next you will want to apply the medium tone eye shadow to the lower
part of your upper lid. Close your eye and follow the contour of
your eyeball with the medium tone eye shadow. You can do this with a
brush or your finger. Try to smudge this shadow into your eyeliner
to help blend the two together slightly.
Smoky Eye Makeup – Step #5 Apply the Darkest Tone
The next step is to create drama with the darkest tone of eye
shadow. To do this you will want to apply the darkest tone of eye
shadow to the crease of your eye, as well as to your lash lines.
Then blend to soften.
Smoky Eye Makeup – Step #6 Highlight
Next you will want to highlight your eye brow ridge by applying your
lightest tone to the area of your eye that is located right below
your eye brow. Again blend to soften the line between tones.
