Teeth Whitening Guide
Having a healthy smile is one of the best ways to improve your
appearance. The better your smile looks the more attractive you will
be to potential mates, potential employers, and to potential
customers. If you are interested in whitening your smile then you
have several options to choose from. Some of these options require
that you treat your teeth with a bleach solution, while other
options require that you use makeup and accessories to create the
appearance of whiter teeth.
Teeth Whitening Tip – Go Red for a Whiter Smile
One way that you can improve the perceived whiteness of your teeth
without having to use a bleaching product is to wear red lipstick.
Red lipstick makes your teeth look whiter and brighter then just
about any other color of lipstick. In contrast, you don’t want to
wear corals, oranges, or other yellow based colored lipsticks as
these lipsticks will make your teeth appear yellow and dull.
Teeth Whitening Tip – Don’t Smoke
Smoking is one of the worst things that you can do to your body. It
not only increases your chances of developing serious health
problems, but it also gives you bad breathe and yellows your teeth.
If you are a smoker who is not willing to give up this habit then
you will need to visit your dentist at least 4 times a year to get
your teeth professionally cleaned. In addition to this you will want
to brush your teeth two to three times a day to remove the residue
created by smoking.
Teeth Whitening Tip – Whitening Toothpastes
There are several whitening toothpastes on the market today. They
have become very popular because they are inexpensive and they are
also available over the counter. Most of these products use calcium
peroxide and abrasives to remove surface stains. These whiteners
will create a whiter smile, however, the effects will only be
temporary as the toothpaste whiteners don’t attack deep stains.
Teeth Whitening Tip – Whitening Strips
The next step up from whitening toothpastes are whitening strips.
These over-the-counter whitening kits include thin, flexible plastic
strips that have a 6.5 percent hydrogen peroxide bleaching agent
that adheres to your teeth. Once applied to your teeth you need to
keep them on for 30 minutes. You will need to complete two
treatments a day for 3 weeks to whiten your teeth completely. The
results created by these whiteners typically last for about 6
months.
Teeth Whitening Tip – Gels and Trays
Another teeth whitening product that is in line with whitening
strips is the whitening gel and light combination kit. To use these
whitening products you will need to apply a whitening gel to a mouth
tray that snaps on to a special light source. You place the tray in
your mouth and clamp your lips over the tray to keep it in place.
Then you turn on the special light. The light activates the gel and
helps to whiten your teeth in about 30 minutes. The advantage of
this teeth whitening system is that you usually can create the
whitening results that you want in a single application. However, if
you have extremely yellow teeth, it may take a several treatments
before you get the results that you want.
