DIY – Give Yourself a Step-by-step Facial
Facials are good for a lot of things. First of all they can be used
to correct skin problems. Next they can be used to prevent skin
problems or they can be used as a way to exfoliate and hydrate your
skin. Finally they can be used as a way to relax and pamper
yourself. No matter what your reason is for getting a facial, they
are a luxury that every woman should afford herself. And if a trip to the salon is not always possible, here's how you can give yourself a DIY Facial at home.
1 – Select Your Facial Recipe
The first step in giving yourself a facial is to determine what type
of facial you want. There are several over-the-counter facial
products that you can buy at your local beauty boutique or
department store. These facials range from fruit extract facials to
clay based facials. Each is designed to treat a different skin
concern such as treating blackheads or exfoliating your skin. If you
don’t want to buy a facial in a jar then there are several recipes
that you can use to create your own facial at home using items from
your pantry.
If you have honey, eggs, and olive oil in your pantry then you can
mix these items together to create a great facial for moisturizing
your skin. If you want to treat oily skin then you may want to try
mixing together a beaten egg white, a squirt of lemon juice, a
splash of witch hazel, and a peeled and pureed cucumber. Finally if
you want a facial for normal skin then you may want to try mixing
together sugar free applesauce and honey.
Mix up your facial and refrigerate it.
2 – Wash Your Face
Before you apply a facial you need to make sure that your skin is
clean. Start by using a headband or wrap to pull your hair away from
your face. Next use a mild cleanser that is designed for the type of
skin you have to wash your face using warm water. Rinse the cleanser
off your face and then pat it dry with a soft towel.
3 – Apply Your Facial
Now that your skin is clean you can apply your facial. Remove the
facial from the refrigerator and apply it with your fingers or with
an applicator. Make sure that you avoid getting the facial in your
eyes or on your lips. Use soft, but firm, strokes to apply the
mixture to your face.
4 – Relax
One of the best parts of a facial is that you get to relax and enjoy
the fragrance of the facial’s ingredients. To get the most benefit
from your facial you will want to place a slice of cool cucumber
over each eye while you wait for the facial to cure. Lean back and
relax for the next 20 to 30 minutes.
5 – Wash it Off
The final step of your facial is to wash off the mixture. To do this
you will again want to use warm water and a soft cloth. Don’t scrub
too hard to get the mixture off unless the purpose of the facial is
to exfoliate. If the facial has hardened then you can rub water into
the mixture gently in a circular motion to help soften the mixture
and make it easier to remove. After the facial is off your face pat
your face dry with a soft towel.
