Harmful Habits/Things for Your Skin
While many people try to learn everything that they can about things
that they should do to keep their skin healthy, few people learn
what they shouldn’t do to keep their skin healthy. There are
actually several harmful habits that a lot of people have that hurt
and damage their skin. If you would like to learn about what you
should avoid doing to protect your skin then read on.
Harmful Habits/Things for Your Skin #1 – Smoking
Smoking is bad for your skin for several reasons. First of all it
discolors your skin. It turns the skin on your fingers yellow, it
discolors the skin around your mouth, and it makes the rest of your
skin dull and gray. Next smoking creates wrinkles around your mouth.
Finally it limits your skin cell’s ability to regenerate effectively
making you look older then you actually are.
Harmful Habits/Things for Your Skin #2 – Buying the Wrong Skincare
Products
One of the most common harmful habits that you can develop is to buy
the wrong skincare products for your skin. When you use a skincare
product that is not designed for the type of skin that you have you
can make the condition of your skin worse than it already it. For
example if you have oily skin and you buy a product designed for dry
skin you can actually increase the oiliness of your skin and
increase your chances of developing acne and blemishes.
Harmful Habits/Things for Your Skin #3 – Picking
Picking at your skin is something that you should avoid. This is
because it can cause scaring, staph infections, discoloration of
your skin, and it can cause a blemish to spread to other areas of
your skin. If you are a picker you need to mentally force yourself
to let your skin heal on its own without squeezing, popping, and
scratching at your pimples and scabs.
Harmful Habits/Things for Your Skin #4 – Ignoring Signs of Skin
Cancer
One of the deadliest habits that you can develop is ignoring signs
of skin cancer. For example, if you have a mole that is itchy or
that bleeds then you need to go to a doctor as these are two main
symptoms of skin cancer. Other skin cancer symptoms include
irregularly shaped moles, moles that are growing, and moles that are
changing shape.
Harmful Habits/Things for Your Skin #5 – Not Wearing Sunscreen
Even with everything that is now known about skin cancer and ultra
violet rays people are still going outside without sunscreen. During
the summer months you should never go outside without some sort of
SPF on your skin. Even in the winter you need an SPF to protect your
skin from both direct and indirect radiation. Finally, make sure to
reapply your sunscreen after you go swimming, after you shower, and
if you are sweating a lot.
