Skincare Tips for Teens
When you are a teenager your body goes through chemical and hormonal
changes that play havoc with your skin. During your teenage years
you can expect to struggle with acne, combination skin, and skin
discolorations. To minimize how much these typical teenage skin
problems disrupt your life you can follow these simple skincare tips
for teens.
Skincare Tips for Teens #1 – Learn About Your Skin
The first thing that you can do to improve your skin’s health and
appearance is to learn what type of skin you have and what products
you should use to keep it clean and healthy. For example, if you
have oily skin that has acne then you will need to select skincare
products that are designed for oily skin and that also addresses the
special conditioning needs created by acne.
Skincare Tips for Teens #2 – Develop a Skincare Routine
To keep your skin clean and healthy you need to develop a skincare
routine that you perform religiously every day. This routine needs
to include cleansing the skin, toning it, and conditioning it. If
you have normal skin then you will want to use a non-comedogenic
cleanser, a moisturizer with an SPF of at least 15, and an oil free
moisturizer for night time. If you have oily skin then you will want
to add a cleaner that contains a 1 percent or 2 percent salicylic
acid to clean your pours, as well as a botanical acne spot treatment
product. No matter what type of skin you have you will also want to
include a once a week mask or facial treatment to control oil and to
exfoliate your skin.
Skincare Tips for Teens #3 – Don’t Pick
If you want to avoid acne scaring and long term skin discoloration
then you need to avoid picking at your skin. Picking at acne causes
the skin to become inflamed and it also makes the acne sore
vulnerable to infections. If you have just become a teenager then
this is the time to learn how to leave your acne alone. Pimples
don’t need to be popped to heal, in fact they will heal much better
if you use an acne product to clear them up instead of popping them.
Skincare Tips for Teens #4 – Keep it Clean
As a teenager your skin is most vulnerable to infections when you
are having a break out. Therefore you should make sure that your
cell phone, keyboard, door handles and other items that you touch
are clean. This will help you to avoid contaminating your skin with
bacteria and viruses.
Skincare Tips for Teens #5 – Let Your Skincare Routine Mature as You
Grow Older
When you are in your younger teen years your skincare routine is
going to be based around the simple task of keeping your skin clean
and conditioned. However, as you enter your late teens your skincare
routine needs to mature. By the time that you are about 17 years old
you need to include eye cream and lip balms that have an SPF in them
in your daily skincare routine.
