Winter Skincare Tips
During the winter your skin can develop a lot of annoying conditions
that look bad and feel worse. Some of the skin conditions that can
develop during the winter months include chapped lips, peeling skin,
chapped skin, scaly skin, itchy skin, and dull skin. This winter you
can be prepared to deal with all of these things by learning a few
simple winter skincare tips.
Winter Skincare Tips #1 – SPF is for Winter Too
During the winter months you aren’t exposed to as much radiation
from the sun as you are during the winter. However, you are exposed
to reflective sun light that can be just as damaging to your skin as
direct sun light can be. To protect your skin from both direct and
indirect sun light you need to wear a moisturizer or foundation with
an SPF.
Winter Skincare Tips #2 – Moisturize
Moisturizing your skin every day is key to keeping your skin
hydrated and looking great during the winter. A good moisturizer
will not only help to promote healing of chapped skin, but it will
also help to prevent serious dryness from developing. When you go
shopping for a moisturizer make sure that it is designed for
seriously dry skin, or for treating winter dryness.
Winter Skincare Tips #3 – Throw Out Your Bar Soap
While people with oily skin can use bar soap during most the year,
during the winter bar soap should be off limits to everyone. This is
because bar soaps contain detergents that dry out your skin. Instead
of using bar soap for cleaning your skin, look for a mild cleanser
that uses soap alternatives. Also look for cleansers that contain
moisturizers.
Winter Skincare Tips #4 – Keep Your Skin Covered
Protecting your skin from the elements is very important during the
winter months. This is because serious skin damage can occur rapidly
when skin is exposed to low temperatures, snow, and wind chills.
When the temperature drops below freezing make sure that you protect
your hands, neck, face, and head with the appropriate clothing. Use
a scarf to protect your face, and wear sunglasses to protect your
eyes from blowing icy crystals.
Winter Skincare Tips #5 – Sunless Tanner
During the winter you don’t get as much sun as you do during the
summer. Because of this your skin becomes pale and pasty looking.
You can help revitalize the look of your skin by using a moisturizer
that contains sunless tanner. This will help you to maintain a
healthy looking glow throughout the year.
Winter Skincare Tips #6 – Add a Little Sparkle to Your Skin
During the winter months you can brighten up your skin by using a
translucent powder that has glitter or sparkles added to their
formula. To add sparkle and shine you skin simply use a large makeup
brush to dust areas of your body that you want to attract light to
with the powder. This is a great way to dress up your skin for a
party or special event.
